Jasper Days continued

Thursday
This morning we drove up to the Edith Cavell mountain and the glaciers. There are  three up there, Ghost which caused a nasty flash flood in 2012 when a chunk fell off, Angel, and Edith Cavell. The road up there was quite step with a few sharp hairpin bends, but Bertha took it all in her stride ...  with me behind the wheel !! 😉
More amazing views

From there we drove down the 14km mountain road, back into town then out to Pyramid Lake, where, eventually we found a lovely beach to sit, have lunch and enjoy the views and sunshine.
...and Michael went for a walk which turned into a paddle and a "quick dip"!!!

Looking in the other direction

After a very pleasant hour and half  we returned toJasper to food shop and fill up with petrol and propane, in preparation for tomorrow.

Great excitement when we got back to the campsite, there were a herd of elk with a bull very close by. Initially all was quiet until some silly people got too close taking photos, the bull didn't like it!!

A youngster

After a while the herd moved very close to us and the bull found a compliant female, I do have an action picture, but don't think I should show it on here!! Eventually the park staff came along a one guy began moving the harem and youngsters

Just a few of the herd which numbered over a dozen

Then eventually the bull followed!
A few minutes later another young bull came by the camper and another larger one was also seen. Don't think I will be venturing out to the loo this evening!!!

Some people are so silly though, there are signs at the campground entrance about the the rut and that the bulls are dangerous......and to keep a good distance away from them.

Oh! and by the way, I had one eye on my lace and one eye on the elk while all this was goi g on!!!
A piece of edging, the purpose of which I do not want to disclose on here !!!!😉

Then....just as I was about to put this blog away, along came these white tailed deer!!

Not a good photo, the light is going!

Wildlife today: Elks ++  White tailed deer.

Long drive planned for tomorrow, maybe as far as Kamloops, which is circa 450km....
