Nanaimo

After a rather wet night, today we drove back over the hills to the east coast of the island. The first section of circa 40km is not a good road, very twisty, hilly and bumpy, however the rest of it was fine.
We stopped at Sproat Lake Landings for a coffee, which really hit the spot!  We then stopped to look at the Harbour Quay at Port Alberni. This is quite a large commercial port at the head of a very long inlet.
Before we left there I set the GPS for this campsite, we have not been using it and I wanted to give it a trial run before we go to Victoria. It was a good help except that it took us to the back of this campsite, not the entrance!!!  Fortunately I had looked up the directions when we stopped for coffee and had written them down!
As we got east the rain really came down making driving on the freeway a bit tricky, lots of water on the road and lots of spray from the traffic. A lot of traffic today, something I have not been used to!!!

We are on a riverside site in the Living Forests Oceanview  campground, with views over the river mount, towards the docks and trawlers one way and up the river the other.

So far it is quiet and peaceful, and hopefully it will remain so, as there are not many other vans down here. This is a huge car ground with going on for 300sites, but it is well organised and most sites have some privacy.

Not sure what we are going to do tomorrow, but whatever it is, I am not moving this van!!  I am looking forward to a little downtime, making lace etc!

Total Km 207
Wildlife: nothing yet, but apparently there are seals in the river.

Total km so far 2387.
